Eagle pose can look confusing and difficult if viewed in its fullest expression. When working with children, I discourage showing difficult poses. Instead, I encourage sharing poses they will most likely be able to get into safely in a reasonable amount of time (which varies depending on our intentions and goals, but probably within the class or short session.)
Here is a great way to continue your Summer yoga poses with your kids! Let’s dig into the fun Crab yoga pose. Crab pose stretches and opens up the chest, and tones the lower back. It builds strength in the arms, legs, and core.
Keep yoga and mindfulness top of mind throughout the summer, continuing with our adorable Dolphin pose. This pose is complementary to last week’s Shark pose. Practice this fun pose, learn about dolphins, and have fun with your kids!
Move and dance through this strong Dancing Warriors Flow. This flow sequence is perfect to energize and promote inner-strength for yogis big and small.
Feel strong and energized in Reverse Warrior. Reverse Warrior is a strong standing pose that stretches along the side while energizing your entire body. Through this pose, you will feel your body warm up, including your arms, core, and legs. When doing this pose, invite children to make a strong warrior call when lifting your arm to the sky.
Puppy Poseis a variation of the populardownward dog. We can use puppy pose to extend our spine while increasing flexibility in the chest. Puppy pose is often referred to as heart-melting pose because it brings the heart close to the ground.
Dancer Pose is an excellent balance pose that helps us build stability and posture while stretching our hips and legs. While this pose might be challenging for kids, we find that kids will try over again and again to find their balance. It’s okay to topple over–we can keep trying together.
When we sit up tall, we can feel our belly muscles helping hold us up. Pay attention as you try this pose. Sit up tall and make your belly very strong. As you twist, move slowly and gently. Find the place where you feel strong and a little bit challenged. Then take a few breaths and feel your strength holding you. You are so strong!
