Welcome to a new series featuring kid's yoga professionals that have taken the Flow and Grow Kids Yoga Teacher Training.
Our first article features Jen. Please read the interview to learn what YOU can do with a career in kids yoga, too!
Currently, I teach 4 classes a week at my daughter’s pre-school. There is a toddler yoga class, 3’s class, 4’s class, and Transitional Kindergarten. I also teach private yoga events such as yoga for girl scout troops or birthday parties for kids.
I had my first job at a preschool within weeks of Lara’s training. I was fortunate enough to teach at the Boys and Girls Club for their summer camp and after school program, a wonderful bilingual preschool that let me practice my Spanish and various other daycares and preschools including my child’s. Through the Flow and Grow Community, I found that there are many opportunities for classes and connections.

Teaching kids yoga has made me realize that yoga can be playful and experienced in so many ways. It has taught me to go with the flow and to have the confidence to tailor any class to the needs and vibe of my classroom each day. Sometimes what happens in kids yoga classes, especially toddler yoga classes, might not look like yoga but the children are learning and using these tools. Every time I chat with parents my heart is full of the stories they tell me about their children showing them a breath we did in class or a series we did on bears and hibernation.
Go for it! Whether you take what you learn and just do it at home with your own kids or incorporate the lessons into your classroom, community center or local preschool your life and the lives of those around you will benefit greatly. Bringing awareness and teaching yoga and mindfulness is such an incredible gift to give to our children. As a busy mom of 2, I find teaching kids yoga a great compliment to managing a yoga department at a wellness center and teaching my regular adult classes. As my children are young I am often able to bring them to work and even trade for preschool education. The morning hours are perfect and allow me time to put my oldest on the bus and drop my youngest off in her class before I teach. As they get older I can always pick up more classes as time allows.

In classrooms and communities around the world, educators and parents alike are placing a growing emphasis onsocial and emotional learning. And for good reason: helping children understand, manage, and express their emotions in healthy ways is just as critical as teaching them to read or do math.

In today’s fast-paced world, children are often exposed to stressors from a young age, whether it’s academic pressure, social challenges, or the overwhelming influence of digital devices. This can impact their physical, mental, and emotional well-being.
