Teach kids about gratitude through yoga and mindfulness

Teaching kids about gratitude is a mindset that will benefit them for years to come. Research tells us that gratitude has many benefits, including greater life satisfaction and better attitudes about school.

Gratitude provides perspective for kids–they can learn to see through the eyes of others, and through that, they can learn to form healthy relationships with themselves and others.

For children, gratitude can be experienced through direct experience, dramatization, and through adult modeling. We’ve included games, meditations, activities, crafts, and yoga poses to help connect with a sense of gratitude.

We hope you enjoy it!

4, 5, 6 graders love it

This worked really well for distance learning. It gave enough description for students and parents to do together.

Gratitude cards

Today it just didn’t work out to do the yoga poses with the whole class. I ended up sending them to centers and asking if children wanted to work with me. In this way I was able to work with 1 or 2 at a time. Maybe I did too many opening activities. I also had 3 3 year olds added to my group due to the need to maintain a 1 to 10 ratio. (They had 13 3 year olds and I had 7 4s.). Day care is like that. I’ll try the games tomorrow. Got a little laminating machine but haven’t found a breathing ball yet. I know they have them on Amazon and may do that. One day at a time. I tried to use the gratitude language this am early on.

Hi Wendy,

I am so grateful to hear about how you're using the gratitude content. I think its a creative solution to work in small groups. Remember to use rhythm as a thread to keep them woven into the lesson. Reach out for support any time <3
